01 / Capabilities
Ten disciplines. One accountable contractor.
Most commercial solar problems are electrical problems. We design, build and certify the whole system — not just the panels — so there is one name on the switchboard.
01
PV system design
Load-profile modelling, string and inverter selection, shading and yield analysis.
02
Battery energy storage (BESS)
Peak shaving, demand management and backup sized from interval data.
03
Carpark solar
Structural carport arrays that add generation and shade where roof space runs out.
04
Switchboard upgrades
Main switchboard and distribution board works to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
05
Power quality
Power-factor correction, harmonic studies and voltage-rise mitigation.
06
DNSP negotiation
Ausgrid and Endeavour connection applications, export limits and technical assessments.
07
Protection studies
Fault-level, discrimination and anti-islanding studies for sites above 30 kW.
08
Metering & monitoring
Revenue-grade metering, sub-metering and live generation dashboards.
09
Operations & maintenance
Scheduled inspections, cleaning, thermal imaging and performance reporting.
10
EV charging
Fleet and visitor charging with load management tied into the solar and battery.
02 / Sectors
Built for how your site actually runs.
Every sector has a different load shape, tariff and approval path. We have delivered systems from 30 kW to 1 MW across these six.
Warehouse & logistics
Large flat roofs and daytime loads — the best payback in the portfolio. Forklift charging and refrigeration pair well with storage.
Retail & shopping centres
Seven-day trading, high demand charges and tenant metering. We model the whole centre, not just the roof.
Industrial & manufacturing
Three-phase loads, power-factor penalties and harmonics. Solar plus power-quality correction in one scope.
Agriculture
Pumping, cool rooms and packing sheds across regional NSW. Ground-mount and shed-roof arrays engineered for wind loads.
Education
Schools and campuses with term-time load profiles. Export-limited designs that satisfy the DNSP and the board.
Strata & multi-residential
Shared-roof solar for common areas and embedded networks. Owners-corporation reporting included.
03 / Return on investment
A 99.9 kW system, worked through.
A typical Western Sydney warehouse on a demand tariff. Your numbers will differ — that is the point of the bill review.

| Line item | Worked example |
|---|---|
| System size | 99.9 kW DC / 80 kW AC |
| Annual generation | ≈ 142,000 kWh |
| Self-consumption | ≈ 85% |
| Installed cost (after STCs) | ≈ $118,000 ex GST |
| Annual bill saving | ≈ $36,500 |
| Simple payback | ≈ 3.2 years |
| 25-year net benefit | ≈ $780,000 |
| CO₂-e avoided per year | ≈ 112 tonnes |
Indicative only. Modelled on 2025 Ausgrid demand tariffs, 4.0 kWh/kW/day yield and current STC pricing; excludes site-specific works, DNSP costs and finance charges. Actual results depend on your load profile, tariff and roof. Not financial advice.
04 / Finance pathways
Own it, lease it, or just buy the power.
We model all three against your bill so the CFO sees the same numbers the engineer does.
Buy outright (CAPEX)
You own the asset from day one and keep every dollar of saving and every incentive. Best payback; uses your capital.
Typical payback 3–6 years
Power purchase agreement (PPA)
Zero upfront. A funder owns the system and you buy the solar power at a rate below the grid for 10–15 years.
From $0 upfront · rate below grid
Finance or operating lease
Fixed monthly payment that is usually lower than the saving. Off- or on-balance-sheet depending on structure.
Cash-flow positive from month one
Finance figures are indicative and subject to credit approval. Fordan Solar is not a licensed financial adviser; speak to your accountant about the tax treatment of each structure.
05 / Incentives & compliance
We claim what you are owed and certify what we build.
Incentives are handled in the proposal, not as an afterthought. Compliance is not optional — it is what keeps the DNSP, the insurer and the fire brigade happy.
Incentives
- STCs — small-scale technology certificates for systems under 100 kW, applied as a point-of-sale discount.
- LGCs — large-scale generation certificates for systems of 100 kW and above, created annually from metered generation.
- DNSP connection — Ausgrid or Endeavour export agreements, negotiated to maximise the export limit you are allowed.
- State schemes — NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) battery incentives where eligible.
Compliance
- AS/NZS 5033 — PV array installation and safety.
- AS/NZS 4777 — grid connection of inverter energy systems.
- AS/NZS 5139 — battery energy storage installation.
- AS/NZS 3000 — the Wiring Rules, for every switchboard we touch.
- AS/NZS 1170.2 — wind actions on mounting structures.
- SAA / CEC accredited designers and installers on every job.
06 / Delivery

Have a roof, a bill or a tender?
Send us the bill or the tender pack. An engineer reviews it and comes back with numbers, not a sales pitch — usually within one business day.
